What shopping tips do you recommend?

School’s starting back soon and people will be out buying school clothes and supplies. What are some tips you recommend such as time of day to go shopping, how to find a good bargain, what type of stores to shop, etc.? Anything you can offer would be great.

Usually stores like JC Penney, American Eagle and Sears (and Big Lots/ Walmart for supplies) advertise back to school sales around this time. I personally like Express, Gadzooks, Hot Topic- but I keep forgetting that most schools have uniforms, which might limit some of your options. As for time of day, I don’t think it matters because it would probably be busy both day & night since a lot of people are still home for the summer, but probably busier at night. Look in the newspaper for discount coupons, also.

Go to the mall on week days, Mon – Thurs, right after the stores open!

Before you go shopping, make a list with two categories: Things you need and things you want. This will help you sort out your priorities. Promise yourself that you won’t buy something you want at the expense of something you need.

Do some research. Find the approximate price of the desired items to make sure you are getting a good deal, and also locate the stores where these items are being sold. The Internet’s always a good place to start. Write the lowest price you found next to the item on your list.

Try everything on. It is better to spend more time in a store initially than to be unsatisfied with what you buy and return later to wait in the Customer Service line.

    Hope you have fun shopping!
