  • Received this item in horrible condition, not in new condtion. The inserts do not lock in place, so your Iphone could easily fall out of the cradle. I read the instructions on how to place the insert and the fron panel fell off…very poor constuction.

If you looking for a way to leave your laptop at home while on vacation with your DSLR, this is NOT it.

Incapable of functioning as card reader for iPhone. Memory cards’ files must go through computer first.

Incapable of charging docked iPhone without a powered USB connection to a powered on computer. Will not charge iPhone using supplied AC wall wart adapter. Will not charge with USB plugged into Apple AC to USB wall wart that comes as stock accessory with iPhone 3Gs.

Did manage to read a 266x Transcend CF card at 26 MB/sec into Macbook Pro laptop. But as a card reader this thing is large and heavy.

I agree with ManaT’s review: Griffin had a good idea with the Simplifi dock, but it’s poorly executed. You can only charge your iPhone when your computer is on. If you charge your iPhone overnight, you would have to leave your computer on in order to use the Simplifi dock. This greatly hampers the usability of this item.

The media card reader is wonderful, and having two more USB ports is always welcome, but the severe limitations of the Simplifi dock’s main feature (charging) means I will return this product.

  • I bought this product and had only a couple of things I wanted/needed it to do. One was charge the phone and second was to be able to hook up to my computer’s iTunes and iPhoto for downloads and updates, etc. To accomplish this, I hooked the dock to a brand new USB hub over which everything else worked great. The problem is that the dock always had difficultly recognizing my iPhone. Even when I first bought it, half the time I would have to hook up to my iPhone to my computer directly through another USB because the dock would not recognize my iPhone. Eventually, it completely crapped out on me would NEVER recognize my iPhone. I tried everything such as move ports on the USB hub and even connecting the hub directly into my iMac. Nothing worked. As others have stated, its a great idea, but bad implementation.

Strike one, out of the box will not charge iphone/ipod unless usb cable is attached. I was hoping to be able to charge without syncing occationally. Strike two, one month after purchase stop charging or syncing iphone/ipod entirely. Strike three, a day later no power to devices connected to usb hub part even though plugged in and excessively bright LEDs both lit. I have had quality issues with Griffin in the past. This will be the last time.
