When I connected this to my Dell Studio 1555, a warning popped up that it was not a recognized adapter, and the computer could therefore only run on battery power. In comparing the specs printed on the back of the NP90 vs. the stock Dell adapter, it appears that the output (DC) amperage might be the discrepancy.

It’s always wise to double check the needs of your device against the specs of the product whenever you are purchasing from a third party manufacturer, especially when you are buying a device with “Universal” in the name. Check the voltage and amperage and that your device uses a standard input size. That said, this adapter met my needs (an LCD monitor) and at a great price. I’m very happy.
